In
Oponguio, in a small native village on Patzcuaro Lake
sits a little restaurant with a big Indian name: Uekapiani. It sits
on a hill overlooking the lake with fabulous views. In the day time
you can see the islands that dot the sea, with a variety of volacanic
hillsides. At night, the lights of the towns of Quiroga and Patzcuaro
sparkle in the distance. The food is absoutely delicious, for a
price you can't beat! Not only is it tasty, but plentiful. A four
course meal for two with 4 beers is about $25.00 usd. This includes
an apetizer, soup, entree, all the home made tortillas you can eat,
desert and, of course, beer.
The
Mejia/Ruiz family that runs the restaurant are marvellous
people. Gloria, who cooks and runs the show, has such a bright spirit
and loves serving her food. This is truly an experience. Once you're
full, and you've been served with love, you will sit for awhile
and bask in the views that fulfill you completely. You will retrun,
I have no doubt, as we have time and time again.
Come
and enjoy life the way it should be enjoyed...
and go home full of belly and joy!
Buen Provecho!
